This website is to help you learn how to invest.
Some of your dreams need a little money. Financing Life is a collection of very short, fast-paced, fact-filled explanatory videos that look at the imperative of saving and investing your entire working life. It encourages you to take charge of your finances, ignore Wall Street chatter, and get on with your life. By understanding and following some simple rules, you can make some of your dreams come true. It’ll teach you something. It’ll make you laugh, and it may just change the way you look at money in your life forever.
These videos follow a small number of simple investment principles that have been shown over time to produce the best results. These ideas come from the investing philosophy of Vanguard-founder Jack Bogle. Some of these ideas are distilled from Nobel prize-winning financial economics research on topics like Modern Portfolio Theory and Capital Asset Pricing Model. But they are really very easy to understand and to implement, and they work. In fact, the basis of all of these principles is the idea that successful investing is not a complicated process, and can be accomplished by anyone with a small amount of effort.
Everyone needs to educate themselves about common sense investing. Many will find that they are quite capable of managing this on their own—and that’s best. Others will want to hire help—but there’s a problem with that. The problem is, to hire good help at a reasonable cost you need to be educated to know what you are looking for. These videos will help working Americans ages 20 to 50. They are short. Watch them all. Then, follow this with a good book—follow our recommendations first until you can identify solid common sense investing principles from all the other self-serving noise out there, until you confidently know the difference between investing and speculating (gambling). This is all about creating a plan, and making your dreams come true.
My intent is to introduce these principles with short entertaining video segments to give you the big picture and an orientation. If you seek more detailed information or an informative discussion board I highly recommend the Boglehead Wiki, the Boglehead Forum (both endearingly named after Jack Bogle), or any of these recommended books.
